GCC defense ministers: Al-Baghdadi’s killing important step in eliminating Daesh’s cells
RIYADH: The death of Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is an important step in eliminating the terrorist organization’s cells, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) defense ministers said on Wednesday.
Gulf defense ministers also condemned the attacks on Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais that took place in September, and said that they stand with the Kingdom and any measures taken to protect its sovereignty, stability, and interests.
The 16th meeting of the joint defense council of the GCC defense ministers, was hosted by Oman in Muscat. It was chaired by Oman’s Minister Responsible for Defense Affairs Sayyid Bader bin Saud Al-Busaidi.
Trump on Sunday announced the killing of Baghdadi by US special operations forces in northwestern Syria.
