RIYADH: World-class soccer, K-pop and Saudi Arabia’s largest-ever parade are among more than 100 events and activities to look forward to over the next two months during Riyadh Season.
General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh on Monday gave more details about the 12 festival zones and some of the more than 100 events and activities taking place across the city over the next two months.
South Korean boy band BTS will take to the stage at King Fahd International Stadium on Oct. 11 to perform in the Kingdom for the first time. On Oct. 17, 1,500 costumed participants are expected to take part in what will be Saudi Arabia’s largest parade. And in November, Argentina will be aiming to avenge their defeat by Brazil in Jeddah last October, as the Superclasico de las Americas returns to Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh Boulevard will host an open-air cinema showing the latest movies for a month, from Oct. 17, and is also the venue for some massive concerts. Audiences can also enjoy some great food served up by a selection of international restaurants, and check out the world’s most extravagant dancing fountains.
The Riyadh Front venue features the season’s largest exhibition area, which will play host to wide range of events, including Space Discovery, ComicCon and a Cirque du Soleil show.
The ambitious 2019 Saudi Seasons initiative, the first of its kind in the region, was launched in February and includes 11 local seasons covering most parts of the Kingdom. Designed to promote the fledgling entertainment sector and boost tourism, it is attracting some of the biggest names in world entertainment to the Kingdom.
